Cool IOS Commands EBook (All Packages)
Learn how to save hours of time configuring Cisco routers and switches with this FREE E-Book
This EBook has 12 chapters covering topics such as:
- "do"
- "/"
- "|"
- "+"
- Regular Expressions
and other time saving commands.
This is not just a normal book, it contains FLASH Demonstrations showing you clearly how to make the most of these powerful commands.
A sample chapter:
1. Introduction
This is the command to use if you struggle to type - for anyone whose fingers are too big :) - I have used this effectively on very slow links when I don't want to keep making mistakes. It allows you to create your own commands and shorthand.
Thus you could use "sbgp" rather than "show run | begin router bgp" - once again, let your imagination guide you.
NOTE: If you plan to use these commands on all of your routers, you will have to configure the alias commands on each individual device (copy and paste will help here).
These examples show how to use the Alias command:
Router(config)#alias exec sr show run
Router(config)#^Z
Router#sr
Building configuration...
Current configuration:
!
version 12.1
service timestamps debug uptime
service timestamps log uptime
no service password-encryption
!
hostname Router
When I completed my CCIE exam, I used the following script to help me type much quicker - it also contains a few other cool commands:
enable
conf t
alias exec sbn show ip bgp neighbor
alias exec sb show ip bgp
alias exec sbs show ip bgp sum
alias exec cb clear ip bgp * soft
alias exec cbh clear ip bgp *
alias exec sbgp show run | begin router bgp
alias exec seigrp show run | begin router eigrp
alias exec sospf show run | begin router ospf
alias exec srip show run | begin router rip
alias exec sisis show run | begin router isis
alias exec sr show run
alias exec sii show ip interface brief
alias exec sal show access-list
alias exec set show ip eigrp topology
alias exec sod show ip ospf database
alias exec srd show ip rip database
alias exec c conf t
alias exec cir clear ip route *
alias exec sir show ip route
alias exec son show ip ospf nei
alias exec sen show ip eigrp nei
no ip domain-lookup
line console 0
logging sync
exec-timeout 0 0
line vty 0 4
logging sync
